Program Overview

Dear Colleagues?

We are pleased to inform you that preparation work for the Symposium has been progressing well and according to the plan. The technical program now consists of 25 invited lectures, more than 30 invited and contributed Poster presentations, and site visits of marine research related facilities. Details of the Symposium can be found in the website: http://www.atcms.com/MP2006. We are honored to have a strong international representation of speakers and participants coming from more than 13 countries over Asian Pacific, North America and Europe. Centered around the main theme of marine pollution monitoring and assessment, the two-day symposium will feature presentations covering a wide variety of subjects including contaminants analysis, chemical and biological monitoring techniques, ecotoxicity and risk assessment models, and scientific issues related to oil spills, land-based pollution, marine algal toxins and seafood safety. Please mark your calendar and encourage your co-workers and professional contacts to join us in this exciting meeting to be held in the beautiful seport city of Qingdao.

Publication Deadlines

The final program and schedule will be announced after we have receive all the abstracts for which we expect to complete by the end of November, 2006. The Proceedings of the Symposium including abstracts and presentation materials will be published at the time of the meeting for distribution. For those who have yet to send in the abstracts and presentation powerpoints, please email us the materials before the final deadline on November 30, 2006. The abstract should be prepared in Microsoft Word with less than 500 words. Authors of Poster presentations are encouraged to submit their poster presentations in table/illustration format fitted to the size of A4 papers for inclusion in the Symposium Proceedings.

Registration

Registration is required to attend the Symposium. The pre-registration deadline for the symposium is November 30, 2006. The registration fee is 200 RMB or $30 USD, which can be paid on site during the symposium. The fee is waived for Invited Speakers and Invited Guests. Please complete the registration form which can be downloaded from the Symposium webside, and send in the completed forms by email to Ms. Wang Xiaomei, Deputy Secretariat (mt2elp@fio.org.cn). Local participants from Qingdao area can also be registered on–site on the meeting date but with phone-in pre-registration (0532-88963253).

Hotel Reservation

A block of rooms have been reserved in SPR Resort Hotel for Symposium participants. All invited Speakers will be staying at the hotel, and reservations should have already been made by yourself, or by us according to the schedule you informed us. Those of you who are not sure of your detailed hotel reservation schedule, please contact the hotel direct by the website (www.spr.cc), or contact Symposium Secretariat Ms. Wang by phone (0532-88963253)or email. A block of rooms have also been reserved in Guo Hai Hotel, which is near the meeting site and in the campus of First Institution of Oceanography. Participants who are late in making their hotel reservations may have problems booking rooms in SPR Hotel. In this case, please contact Symposium Secretariat Ms. Wang to reserve rooms for you in Guo Hai Hotel. The conference registration and hotel room reservation deadline in either hotel is December 5, and reservation requests received afterwards cannot guarantee the discounted conference room rates.
